“Fall for a Furry Friend,” adoption special event, will be featured by Escondido Humane Society, from 10 a.m. To 5 p.m. Oct. 27 at 3450 E. Valley Parkway. Part of the ASPCA $100K Challenge, all adoption fees will be lowered for the day. Adoption special applies to adult dogs and cats, puppies, kittens and rabbits. The ASPCA Challenge is a nationwide competition for animal shelters that aims to get more dogs and cats adopted or returned to their owners. The organization that achieves the greatest increase in lives saved from Aug. 1 to Oct. 31 will receive a $100,000 grant. Adoption fees have been lowered to $10 per pet and includes spay/neuter, microchip identification with lifetime registration, vaccinations, dog licensing for residents of Escondido, San Marcos and Poway, vet exam, wellness exam after adoption, sample bag of food, discounts at local pet supply, grooming and boarding partners and behavior support for dogs and cats for the lifetime of the animal.
